Hardcover Book Now Shipping!

The hardcover book version of The Seas of Vodari has arrived! Shipments will start going out this week. We're shipping by tier with our Shipbuilders, Explorers, and Legend of the Seas backers being sent out first. Once all of our Kickstarter backer orders have shipped we will begin shipping preorders. Keep a lookout for shipping notices from Tribality / Seas of Vodari (or the parent company Innovaworks) to track your package once it has shipped.

PDF Update

We will be posting an updated version 1.3 of the PDF with a few minor tweaks and typo fixes that were caught before the book went to print.

Hardcover Book - Printer Update

The COVID-19 global pandemic impacted the printing of the hardcover book with our printer closing for a month. The good news is that I was just told today that the printing of the hardcover book has started! We expect to receive the hardcover book later this month and begin packing and shipping after that. Our apologies for this delay and we will continue to keep you informed if there are any additional changes.

When we receive the hardcover books I'll crack open a box and share some photos with everyone.

Under the Sea of Vodari

Interested in even more fun and adventure under the seas? Under the Seas of Vodari will provide undersea player options, equipment, locations, and an adventure. You’ll have everything you need to run a  single session or an entire campaign set under the surface of Vodari’s vast ocean.

I've been working on writing and ordering art for Under the Seas of Vodari. I have some info and previews to share. We're working to detail an entire undersea world and the first step is to fill it with undersea people. This PDF will include 6 new playable racial options. We will also republish the Sea Dwarves, Vodas and Sirens. Here are some details on the new additions and an art preview for a couple of them.

Sea Dragonborn (or Sea Draga), are amphibious dragonborn who look similar to sea dragons, though they lack wings. Draga with this draconic ancestry tend to split their time living above and below the waves.

Cecaelia are amphibious people with a humanoid upper body and a lower body with eight octopus-like tentacles. Cecaelias spend most of their short lives seeking out pleasures and new experiences.

Grindylows are amphibious people with a sharklike goblinoid upper body and the lower body of an octopus. They’re as likely to be found living as nomadic scavengers as in one of the more cosmopolitan settlements.

Merfolk are aquatic people with a humanoid upper body and a fishlike lower body. Eons of living in different oceanic zones split the merfolk into the Sunreach and Twilight merfolk. 

• Sunreach Merfolk live in the sunlit seas on the vast seabeds that light can reach. They are split equally between those who live in sprawling cities and those who live simple lives as farmers or hunter-gatherers.
• Twilight Merfolk live in the deepest and darkest seas. Their ancestors survived as nomadic hunters far from the light, which bestowed them with darkvision and speed.

Tiburons are aquaticpeople with a humanoid upper body and the lower body of a shark. Most tiburons live as nomadic hunters or as anything else that gives them a reason to move with the currents.

This update covers the final delivery of digital assets, printing and shipping of the hardcover version, Under the Seas of Vodari, and Seas of Vodari on Fantasy Grounds. 

Digital Assets

Everyone who is eligible should have already received links to download the following new and updated digital assets (based on Kickstarter backer levels) from Backerkit. These are the final deliverables for all non-printed items promised in the Kickstarter campaign (excluding the Under the Seas of Vodari PDF).

• Seas of Vodari PDF v1.2 - regular and low-ink (anyone who purchased PDF)
• SoV Ship Character Sheets PDF (all backers)
• SoV Character Sheet PDF (all backers)
• SoV Pregenerated Character Sheets PDF (all backers)
• Character Art & Tokens Pack (add-on purchasers and $80 Admiral or higher backers)
• Map Pack (add-on purchasers and $80 Admiral or higher backers)
• World Map JPG (anyone who purchased PDF)

Printing Update

This week we received the Poster Size Vodari World Map and Seas of Vodari Poster from the printer. I'm really happy with how they turned out.

The COVID-19 global pandemic has impacted the printing of the hardcover book. We expected to have the hardcover book version of The Seas of Vodari shipped to us on April 9. 2020 and shipped out to everyone by late April 2020. However, we recently received this notice from our publisher.

"Due to the recent plant shutdowns in Quebec ordered by the provincial government, we have had to push this title to ship at a later date. The new scheduled ship date is currently May 12th."

If there are no further delays and our printer is able to reopen their plant without impacting the safety of their workers, we'll expect to receive the book by mid-May 2020 and will then ship the book by late May 2020. Our apologies and we will continue to keep you informed if there are any additional changes to this updated delivery schedule due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. Stay safe and healthy everyone.

Under the Sea of Vodari

Now that we have completed all of the work on the Seas of Vodari book and digital assets, we're in the process of shifting to work on Under the Seas of Vodari. We've met to discuss the outline for this publication and work on this title has begun. Our expected delivery for the final version of Under the Seas of Vodari continues to be this year. We will send out previews of artwork, character options, and more as progress is made.

Fantasy Grounds

The Seas of Vodari is coming to Fantasy Grounds, "the most supported virtual tabletop, with more official licenses than any other virtual tabletop". We don't have a launch date yet, but their developers have been provided with text, maps, and artwork and are working on converting it to the Fantasy Grounds platform. We'll provide more information on this as we get closer to release.

Hey Backers!

Here's an update with the status of everything that was promised during our Kickstarter campaign, as we close in on final delivery...

• We sent the print-ready cover and interior files to the printer. Our printer is located in Canada and our print turnaround time is 4 to 5 weeks. If we receive the books back from the printer on schedule, we expect to be shipping the hardcover book out by late April 2020. We do not anticipate that the COVID-19 global pandemic will have an impact on our print order at this time and will keep you informed of any changes to the delivery schedule.
• The Vodari themed character sheets, digital map pack, digital art & tokens pack are all complete.
• We're currently making some tweaks to the pre-gen character sheets and finishing up the design of the ship character sheets.
• Layout is complete for the poster size world map of Vodari and Seas of Vodari poster. Both of these have been sent to our local printer.
• Layout is complete for the monster stickers that were promised as a gift for higher tier backers. We'll be sending the monster stickers to the printer this week. 
• Everyone should have received The Seas of Vodari v1.1 (PDF). We made a few last changes before sending the book off to the printer and we will be sending out The Seas of Vodari v1.2 (PDF) with the character sheets, maps packs, tokens, and any other digital releases towards the end of the month.
• Preliminary work on Under the Seas of Vodari has already started and we plan to start working heavy on the project in April 2020. As we make progress on the PDF, we'll provide timelines and previews.

The tweaks and fixes are complete! Our timeline is still on track.

Timeline

• Backerkit will be sending out v1.1 of the PDF to everyone shortly. This will be the final PDF that matches the hardcover book.
• We're ready to send the print-ready PDF to the printer along with our order. Our printer is located in Canada and our print turnaround time is 4 to 5 weeks. If we receive the books back from the printer on schedule, we expect to be shipping the hardcover book out April 2020.
• Next week we will move into finishing up the add-ons and digital assets such as the maps pack, digital tokens and character art pack, pre-gen character sheets, Vodari themed character sheets, ship character sheets, and anything else that was promised during the Kickstarter campaign. Our goal is to send out all of these assets by the end of March 2020.
• Preliminary work on Under the Seas of Vodari has already started and we plan to start working heavy on the project in April 2020. As we make progress on the PDF, we'll provide timelines and previews.
